Physics is critically important to supporting the Food Manufacturing Sector in addressing the challenges it faces which include health and nutrition concerns, minimising waste and environmental impact, improving food security, responding to population growth and globalisation and improving productivity and developing and manufacturing successful products. A multidisciplinary approach is vital to solving these problems and physics has a crucial role to play. The second annual meeting of the Physics in Food Manufacturing Group takes place at the premises of Campden BRI, a leading independent provider of technical services for the food and drink industry. It will bring together physicists from industry and academia to share progress and discuss challenges in the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, in which Physics plays an important role.
